The Capital Market, in collaboration with the Neighborhood Design Center and the City of District Heights Sustainability Committee, is organizing a Healthy Foods Community Conversation (Wednesday, August 9th) and Walk Audit (Saturday, August 12th). This event aims to foster a sense of community while examining and improving the accessibility of healthy food sources in our neighborhoods.

Please take a moment to register for the Healthy Foods Community Walk Audit by visiting the following link: [Registration Here]. Hurry, as spaces are limited, and we'd love to see you there!

By participating in the Healthy Foods Community Walk Audit, you will join an enthusiastic team of City Residents and Community Stakeholders as we explore safe routes to community gardens and other nourishing food outlets in District Heights. This is an incredible opportunity for residents like you to come together and contribute towards building vibrant and healthy neighborhoods.

The Healthy Foods Community Walk Audit is a two-part event taking place

August 9, 2023 - Community Conversation at 6:30pm

During the Community Conversation residents and stakeholders will help The Capital Market define “Healthy Foods” and “Healthy Food Access, and share experiences navigating walking and cycling infrastructure and healthy food resources within the community. The group will also learn more about Walk Audits and how they can be used to deepen people’s understanding of a place and to learn and identify needed improvements for people of all ages and abilities. Dinner will be provided!

August 12, 2023 - Healthy Foods Walk Audit at 9:30am

We will provide instructions on how to conduct a walk audit, explain the significance of such audits, and offer valuable insights into community design, infrastructure, and the creation of healthy environments.

This event is not just for adults! We warmly invite citizens of all ages to join us in this meaningful endeavor. It is a fantastic opportunity to educate our younger generations about the value of healthy living and inspire them to make positive choices for themselves and their communities.

Let's come together, walk hand in hand, and work towards a healthier, more accessible community. Your participation will make a difference. Together, we can promote change and lay the foundation for a brighter, healthier future.
